A Sweet Place to Call Home
Where you work is important. It’s a lot like real estate, because so much of your career decision depends on “location, location, location.” Harrisburg and its surrounding communities are a wonderful place to live and work. Which is why South Central PA has invited Amazon HQ2 to call Harrisburg home. We’d love to see you working here, with us, in the Harrisburg region. The south central region of Pennsylvania is a sweet place to call home, and we’re not just talking about proximity to Hersheypark.
Harrisburg is located on the beautiful Susquehanna River that majestically flows into the Chesapeake Bay. Many say Harrisburg is a smaller, kinder, gentler version of Washington DC. Harrisburg grew as both a government town and a manufacturing town with historically great passenger rail and rail freight service to major cities along the east coast. It is the home to many professional service firms, both national firms and regional firms in law, accounting, architects, engineers, construction and other business services. It is a region that even in tough economic times has fared well over the years.
We have 22 colleges and universities within our region, many within minutes of the site. Penn State’s main campus, with just under 50,000 students at University Park, is just a little over an hour away and Penn State’s Capital Campus a few minutes away, both of, which will be a major resource for software engineering students and other professionals for the HQ2 facility. We might add, when it comes to major college football: We Are Penn State!! Learn more about education in Central PA.
The Amazon HQ2 site is located on the north edge of Harrisburg within 2 hours of Washington, DC, Baltimore and Philadelphia and a three hour drive time to New York with Amtrak Train Service to Philadelphia and New York within 4 blocks of the site. Harrisburg International Airport is just 20 minutes from the site. The site is served by the regional mass transit (bus) system. The proposed site is also located conveniently across the street from the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex which offers over 1 million square feet of exhibit space under roof, home to many local and national events.
